Hydro

fresh vegetables and sailing usually dont go together. In the past sailors were desperately lacking the vitamins that come from fruits.

And so we are attempting to make that combination. Growing food on deck is great step towards smaller ecological footprint and sustainability. Over the past few years, Hillel my brother and I have been building and experimenting with hydroponics and aquaponics.

growing plants on a watercraft has many disadvantages (such as space) but it also as some advantages:

Boats contently wobble (מתנדנד) specially Juoty, the winds, waves and even just moving on the boat makes it wobble.

so we installed 1" pipe at the perimeter of the boat (under the gunwale).

so the water in the pipe is constantly moving. and by installing a

valve (שסתום) the flow will have one direction...

so here we use the constant free energy to circulate the water witch it the first part of any hydroponic system.

at first we build a system at home using regular pump:

so far it is has been hard to grow fruit. We now focus on plants that we eat their leaves such as Riglla and Basil as shown below...
